Alyssa Bachus, MSW, RSW

Alyssa is a registered Social Worker of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She attended York University, where she completed a Bachelor of Social Work, minoring in Children, Childhood, and Youth studies, in addition to, completing a Master of Social Work, specializing in Social Justice and Diversity, at the University of Toronto.  

 

Alyssa strives to work from a critical social work lens, specifically incorporating critical race theory and queer theory into her practice, alongside, harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches. In addition to the above, she works from a person-centred, holistic approach, using a variety of therapy modalities to best suit the needs of the individuals being supported; these may include motivational interviewing techniques, strengths-based and empowerment approaches, Solution-focused Brief Therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques.  

 

Alyssa has experience supporting individuals who are experiencing homelessness, addictions, trauma, mental health challenges, abuse, and/or stress. Alyssa is passionate about creating and fostering spaces that strive for growth, healing and empowerment on the individual, family, and community levels. 

Alyssa's  therapy sessions can be covered through some extended health care benefit packages as well as First Nation Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB).
